Review: Sweet Addiction series by J. Daniels

IMG_4775

Time for some honesty here: I’ve been binge reading books on my phone via the Kindle app. I can’t remember the last time I read a book with real pages! (Shocking I know!) I never thought I would enjoy eBooks as much as I have, but they are so easy to access! I also feel that I read books quicker this way? Now all I need to get is a Kindle or iPad, because my phone screen is not nearly big enough!

So, this all being said, I’ve been armed with a handful of recommended authors and the “1-click buy” button on Amazon has become my new best friend. Enter J.Daniels. I previously reviewed her Alabama Summer series, which I also highly recommend! Sweet Addiction is another one of her trilogies, and the series title says it all – these books were incredibly ADDICTING! I think I read them all under 48 hours? If you haven’t noticed by now, I love binge reading books!

The Books

This series is a trilogy, with the reading order being: Sweet Addiction, Sweet Possession and Sweet Obsession.  Here are some brief synposis’ of the books:

Sweet Addiction

“Wedding hookups never amount to anything. Those who partake in this wicked little activity know the rules. Get in. Get laid. Get out. There’s no expectation of a relationship. It is what it is. Dylan Sparks knows the rules. She’s familiar with the protocol. And she engages in the best sex of her life with a complete stranger at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding. Reese Carroll doesn’t care about the rules. He wants more than just one night with Dylan. And Dylan finds him too addicting to pass up. Sweet Addiction is the story of one woman’s struggle to keep things casual, and one man’s desire to never let her go.”

Sweet Possession

“From the author of the Alabama Summer series and the Dirty Deeds series, comes a sexy new companion novel to Sweet Addiction. A sassy, in-your-face baker. A panty-stealing, dirty-talking accountant. And a bathroom quickie that changed their lives forever. Wedding hookups never amount to anything. Unless that hookup knocks you on your ass. For Dylan Sparks and Reese Carroll, the big day can’t arrive soon enough. Dylan, stressed to the max from overbearing mothers and last minute preparations, struggles to keep her sanity. As for Reese, he’s fighting to not only keep his bride-to-be safe from creepy investors, but also to make it to the actual wedding day without losing his mind in the process. Throw in a crazy group of friends, and a bachelor/bachelorette party weekend getaway, and you have a recipe for the sweetest wedding of the year. Reese Carroll and Dylan Sparks cordially invite you to read Sweet Possession.”

Sweet Obsession

“Everyone knows Brooke Wicks loves to have a good time. She’s not interested in getting serious, settling down, or limiting herself to one man. So when she meets the sexy, irresistible Mason King, she sees another opportunity to let loose and go wild. But the gorgeous Aussie isn’t interested in just a quick fling with Brooke, and if she wants to get into his bed, she’s going to have to do it on his terms. Loving fast and hard has always been Mason’s philosophy. He doesn’t want a meaningless connection, he wants it all, and he wants it with Brooke. When she makes her one desire known—to hit it and quit it—Mason wages a plan to ensure Brooke keeps coming back for more. Or so he hopes. Getting her attention was the easy part. Keeping it might be damn near impossible.”

The Boys:

Once again, Daniels doesn’t disappoint in her ability to write strong and dominating male leads. But despite their tough exteriors, they are also able to be super caring and full of love. Reese Carroll is the epitome of a successful businessman. He’s confidant, strong, and extremely protective. Over the course of two novels (Addiction and Possession) we grow to love Reese for who he is, despite some of the flaws he may seem to have. Now if anyone knows of any attractive CPA’s … you can point me in their direction …

A super fun addition to this series was the fact that a character crossed over from her Alabama Summer series! In Sweet Obsession, we are reintroduced to Mason King – the hottie from down under. I always love it when authors do these cross overs and keep the stories connected, even if it’s in the tiniest way! It was neat to see where Mason’s storyline went.

The Babes:

Dylan Sparks was a really fun character to read from her point of view. As the owner of a bakery, the reader was able to connect with her ambition and drive. She was also super funny and I remember laughing out loud a few times.

Brooks Wicks is the star of the third book in this series, and she works at Dylan’s bakery. She is known as a bit of a man-eater, and enjoys her single life to the fullest. However, once she meets Mason, we start to see her perspective change. She’s funny and sarcastic and a bit of a bad ass.

The Bottom Line:

While all three of these stories suffered from some “insta-love” connections, I wasn’t turned off by that cliched story arc. It’s pretty much a necessary ingredient for these types of books, and I thought that some of the conflicts were realistic enough that it evened out. The books made me laugh, made me swoon, and made me fall in love with the characters! I highly recommend this series J. Daniels can pretty much do no wrong in my mind!

Review: Alabama Summer series by J. Daniels

These books. How do I even begin this review? Well first of all, I am going to completely blame two of my bookstagram buddies for my newest addiction. Brie and Becca …. what have you done to me?! I was suffering from a book slump and these came at just the perfect time. But while I am super happy for the book reading marathon that I went through to finish all five of these books in three days … I am also a little peeved because now I’m ruined. Why do these men cease to exist in real life?!

*cue moment of silence while I live my life in solitary*

But actually – these men are everything. So without further ado, let’s travel down south to Ruxton, Alabama!   Continue reading “Review: Alabama Summer series by J. Daniels”
